Question
Last Thanksgiving I renewed my ATT contract and got a new Samsung A737 phone.  I am disappointed in it-especially the battery life and speaker phone so I want to get a Blackberry 8310 and purchase it online.  Can I move the 3G ATT sim card to the new phone or should I just go to a service center and have a tech process the phone sale?  I am very impressed with all your good answers-thanks for doing this for us poor uneducateds ;)

Answer
Hello Nancy,

I am glad to be able to help people online, out in the streets and everywhere I go. If you purchase a blackberry phone you can just insert the sim card from your phone into the blackberry phone and it will automatically work on your phone. If you want to be able to use the blackberry e-mail and internet on your phone you are going to have to add a plan to your account to give you that access. If you just got your plan renewed in thanksgiving you will not be able to get the full discounted price on the phone through the store that is because your 2 year extention is not up. The phone will cost you $75 more because your contract is not up and you will be extending your contract for another 8 months or so. If you have another line on your account that is eligible for an upgrade and you want to use that upgrade for your self you can always process the upgrade that way. If you do not have another line on your account and you do not want to extend your contract for another year I recommend for you to purchase your phone online and you can just swap out the sim card yourself when you receive the phone. If you are ok with extending your contract for another year and paying an additional $75 for the phone then you can go about getting your phone this way at any at&t store. This way will also be good because your phone originally comes with a one year warranty and it definately comes in handy since blackberry phones are not eligible for insurance. One suggestion your phone is still under warranty you can call warranty through at&t and tell them your screen has gone out even if it still works they will send you a replacement phone in about 2-3 days send the old one back but remember to erase all of your information and sell that phone online, make some money off of it even if it is only the $75 difference that you make off of the phone. Please bare in mind that is just a suggestion. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question and your lovely comments they are deeply appreciated any further questions you may have please also feel free to contact me directly at rbserranojr@aim.com Thank you for your question.
