Cellular Phones/Unlocking Rogers Blackberry

Question
Hello,

I currently have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 on the Rogers network in Canada. I am moving to the UK for a few months and was hoping to unlock the Blackberry to use it with a local SIM card (probably on the O2 network). I've heard that the features (web browsing, email and sms) won't work if I do so. Is this true or is there a way I can configure it for use?

Also, if I do unlock it, once I return and put the Rogers SIM back in, will everything work correctly still?

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hello Sarah,

Your internet will not work neither will your mms messaging and email you see your phone is configured to the network and if you unlock your phone to use it with a different network it will not be configured to that network. You can not configure the phone to another network if you unlock it, you can only unlock your phone to use the phone for regular text messages and in and out calls. Once you return and insert the original sim card into your phone everything will work. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.
