Question
QUESTION: Hey:  I have an unlocked Motorola V195.  If I "master clear" the phone, will it remain unlocked, or, will it go back to the original carrior.  Thanks much,  John.  P.S. Please note, as a blind visitor to your site, I can't, without sighted help, read the characters in the box given no audio.  Eh????????

ANSWER: John, a master clear will only clear all data on the phone....phonebook, ringtones, pictures. the phone will remain unlocked.

QUESTION: Thank you very much for getting back to me.  Regarding speed dial, we are able to enter phone numbers in to touch pad positions 5--9, however, when attempting to use 2--4, it is saying the numbers are assigned.  When holding 2--9 down, the positions are empty.  Is this problem with my phone, or, is this another stupid move on the part of Motorola.  How can we fix this, or can we.  Thanks again.  If you have received this question from me earlier, I apologize as I thought I canceled it.  John

Answer
John, which carrier do you have? I will assume you either have tmobile or att.  Hopefully, you don't have a ton of contacts but you will need to go through each one and make sure you don't have speed dial setup.  Some motorola phones automatically assign speed dials when you enter the contact.  most phones have the 9 set to call 911 and can't be changed. others have the 1 as the voicemail speed dial.  If all that fails, go into your local store and get some technical assistance.  Motorola can have some quirky settings thats causing this, but most are easily fixable.  There is an outside chance it's a software issue and you may need to do a warranty exchange on your phone, but hold off on that till you try what I've said.  Hope this helps.
