Question
Good morning:
I am using a motorola i560 -yellow- with no problem until I went to Del Rio,TX!!! .. no service at all!! Long story short, I am job relocating there, the ability of the "radio" and military standards are great... my family is crossing the mexican border, less than 10 miles. Can Sprnt unlock my phone from Nextel and still able to use as radio? Thank you.

Answer
Natalia, by "radio", you mean the walkie talkie function of the phone right?  I pulled up the coverage map for Del Rio, TX on the Nextel portion of Sprint's website....sorry, but it's zero coverage.  Check with any local wireless carriers there and see if they have military spec phones. Att and Verizon, both have excellent coverage there.  Att has 2 military spec phones. one is the samsung rugby, the other the motorola tundra.  I didn't find a single phone on verizon that's to military specs.  Both companies offer their own versions of walkie talkie, and if you switch you won't be able to communicate with the people on Nextel's.  Also, the phone cannot be unlocked to use just the radio. Hope this helps, and sorry i couldn't give you the answer you wanted.
