Question I am using my person cell phone for work. I am connected to my work e-mail and Internet through the BES server. I read a previous question but it was in regards to texting on a business cell phone. If it is my personal cell phone do my personal text messages also go through the BES server or do they go through the service provider I have my phone with?
Answer Even though this phone is your "personal" phone, the information that goes through the BlackBerry server goes through your company's BES server because you have the BlackBerry Enterprise plan on your account and it was activated on the BES server. That means that all data (including text)can go through the server. That doesn't mean that your company captures or saves that information (and it is very unlikely that they do), but they can and it is possible. When you are associated with a BES server, the administrator can control whether you can use the voice services, text, MMS, etc. and about 150 other things and they can capture all of this info. Most companies do not take the time, energy or money required to view and capture their employee's text messages, but as long as you are going through the BES, you should know that they can. I might suggest that you get a company BlackBerry instead of using your personal one for work. Your information actually is with your company and your carrier as it relates to text and calls and internet. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
