Cellular Phones/Revol and others

Question
Are these types of cell phone services any good? I see them and would be more interested if I knew how well they worked and do they share towers with a larger carrier?

Answer
Revol is an independent regional wireless carrier and they have their own network. They do not operate on other carriers' networks so if you can get good coverage and service from them where you live (in and around the cities of Indianapolis, Indiana, Anderson, Indiana, Muncie, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Columbus, Cincinnati, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio Toledo, Ohio,Youngstown, Ohio, New Castle, Pennsylvania, Akron, Ohio, Wooster, Ohio, Canton, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky, Buffalo, New York as well as other areas), then I would say go for it. As long as you don't have to travel outside of their coverage area, it's a good deal. If you travel outside their area, you have to pay an additional $5.00 a month, you are limited to CDMA only phones (but you can use their phones or other CDMA phones from Verizon or Sprint, for example for a one-time fee of $65), call records cost a whopping $20.00 a month which is pretty ridiculous, if you ask me, Push-to-Talk only works between Revol phones. It's plans are unlimited, which is good for many people who need it. Most carriers share tower space with other carriers, but the network is their own and this is true for Revol also. One carrier may own a tower, but they lease space to other carriers. If you have friends or family where you live who use Revol and it works well for them, then it's a good deal. Being a small, regional carrier, keep in mind that they won't have the number or density of towers as a large carrier nor will they have the bandwidth of other carriers, so there will definitely be a difference. Check with people you know who have them to be sure. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
