Question
Hi,

My Sony Ericsson w580i phone has suddenly stopped sending messages. And now when I try to dail out, it does not connect but just dials for 5 sec, and ends. Then a missed call symbol with call duration 5 sec is shown. I am however able to recieve calls and sms. Please help.

I tried removing the battery, restarting etc. Nothing resolves.

It sounds like the phone is not able to hold it's connection to the network. That can be caused by the antenna becoming cracked or broken or damaged and also from wear and tear. If the device is over 2 years old and you are eligible for an upgrade, you may want to consider getting a new phone. If it is less than 1 year old, you can get it replaced under warranty. If it is more than 1 year, but less than 2, you may want to take it to your carrier to be fixed. There isn't anything that you can do to fix it - removing the battery and restarting is the only troubleshooting you can do. This is very likely what I stated above. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
