Cellular Phones/Texting from o2 to MetroPCS?

Question
Hi there.

I moved to UK from Italy. A friend of mine lives in Tampa, Florida. Trying to find the best deal (=not a theft!) I finally ported my number to o2 today. I can normally text UK and italian numbers, and I receive replies.
I also receive texts from my US friend - she's on MetroPCS and o2 is listed as a supported carrier. Although, I can't send text from o2 to MetroPCS. They all read "delivered" and I get fined for each of them; but they never arrive.
This is an odyssey, it's my 3rd UK carrier. I just want to text her, at a reasonable rate. Please help me if possible...

Answer
Remove your friend from your contact list. Then have her send you a text. Then add her back from that text that she sent you into your contacts. Then try to reply to her text. This should work. I would also check to validate that MetroPCS is a supported carrier of O2 (which is likely since it works the other way). There's no way to do this "at a reasonable rate" from either of your cell phones. The reasonable rate way to do this is to use email, I'm afraid. The phones don't make any difference, it's about the format of the text and it's likely that the way she is set up in your contacts is what is the issue. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
