Cellular Phones/razr serial number

Question
Hello....This is going to be a bizarre question, but I just found a very nice AT&T Razr lying on the windowsill of my home tonight. I took it inside and it has no SIM card. Is there anyway to find the owner by the serial number ? I recently came out of an abusive marriage and have a protection order against my ex-husband and am concerned that he may be lurking around and left it there. I also have three children and wonder if some weirdo was hanging out by our family room. The phone definitely does not belong to any family or friends. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
There really isn't a way to determine the owner based on the IMEI (serial) number of the phone. You could contact AT&T and they could search by the IMEI, and potentially locate the owner, but since the phone doesn't have the SIM inside of it, it's likely that the owner is using a different phone. If they locate the owner, they can't tell you who that person is and though you could ask them to contact the person for you, it's not likely that they could do this for you. It's always worth a try and all you would need to do is to contact AT&T and tell them that you have found a phone, provide them with the 15 digit IMEI (located under the back cover of the phone under the battery) and ask them to look it up. If you had found a phone with a SIM card in it, it would be more likely that it was a lost phone, but it's more likely that this is someone's old phone. Either way, you can always try. I hope this helps. Thanks and good luck to you . DebiN
