Cellular Phones/Address book won't show up from my SIM card

Question
My friend gave me his new Blackberry pearl. We both have T-Mobile, but when I inserted my sim card into the phone none of my contacts or messages show up. They are all still his stuff. Please help

Answer
The BlackBerry defaults to it's own Address Book. What you need to do is first perform a "Wipe" to remove his information from the device. Go into Settings, then Options, then Security, then General Options, then click the Menu button and choose Wipe Handheld. It will tell you to type the word blackberry to wipe the device. Once the device is completely wiped, then to get your SIM card addresses into the BlackBerry, go into your Contacts icon, click the Menu button (Menu is to the left of the trackball, choose SIM Phonebook. Once the contacts from your Phone book show up, then go back into the Menu, choose Copy All to Contacts and everything from your SIM will now be on the BlackBerry.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1. If you didn't save your contacts onto your SIM, they are still on your old phone and you will need to copy them to your SIM first.

2. If you don't have a BlackBerry data plan, you will not be able to use the email or access the internet or send and receive MMS messages.

I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
