Cellular Phones/Exceeds Available Space.

Question
I have a razr V3M with a 1gb sd card.  When I text everything is fine, but when I try to forward a message to my email one of two things happens.  1.  I try to enter my email in the TO: and I can only type 9 charactors and it stops.  So, I can't send it that way.  OR 2. I set up a contact for my email and use the contacts option to try to get the forward TO: to work.  The result is "Exceeds Available Space" message appears.  The contacts works fine for sending a new message, just won't work for forwarding one.  Is there a patch or something I can do to forward messages to my email?

Answer
Hi Scott -

Thank you for providing the detail that you did. This makes it a lot easier to succinctly answer your question, I hope. There is no patch or "fix" to what is occuring. The phone is designed to only allow for a certain amount of memory to be used (similar to RAM in a computer) for different things, such as the size of a ringtone, the size of a music file, the size of a message. Just like with your home or work email, there is a size limit to the size of the files that you can send or forward, i.e., 5MG or 10MG. With the cell phone, there is also a restriction and so when you try to forward, you have exceeded the limitation and therefore it doesn't allow you to do this. The SD card doesn't come into play at all. The space that you are exceeding is the internal memory, not the permanent storage. You won't be able to get around this.

Regarding the TO: issue, you can only send an email from a Contact. You will not be able to manually enter an email address no matter what you do. The TO area was designed for a phone number, not for an email address. The only way to send to an email is through the contact.

If you really send and receive a lot of emails that you want to get to via your cell phone, I would strongly recommend looking into a different device. You would be much better served with a SmartPhone or BlackBerry which were designed for sending and receiving and forwarding data as well as the phone and other capabilities. I hope this helps.
