Cellular Phones/Selling a Blackberry 8310 to www.cellitused.com

Question
Hello DebiN.  I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 that I've replaced with an iPhone.  The Blackberry is fully functional but its reception does buzz annoyingly after so many minutes of use and sometimes it shuts down in spite of charging the battery fully.  I figure no one else will buy it so I'll try to sell it to cellitused.com.

I carefully read their Terms and Conditions, and my phone fits every parameter.  (I feel certain, cynically, that they stiff/disappoint many people who don't bother to read and follow those terms.)

But I'm not worried too much about being stiffed, because there's nothing to lose.  My question(s) for you:

1) Do you find that site legit/reputable?

2) How do I erase my entire address book and all personal information at one time?  Especially the address book.

Thanks!
Chris

Answer
I do believe that Cellitused is a legitimate site and they do buy used cell phones. I don't think that you will get stiffed if you sell them your BlackBerry. $35.00 is more than someone else is going to give you for the device, so I think it is worth it. This company refurbishing and/or recycles devices and they get money for doing this, so that's why they are able to buy the phones from people. I think that doing this would be a good idea for you and I wouldn't worry at all.

The way that you complete erase your information is as follows:

1. Go into Settings, then Options, then Security Options, then General Settings
2. Click the Menu button (to the left of the trackball) and choose Wipe Handheld.
3. Type the word "blackberry" (no quotes) to fully erase the handheld.

This securely, 100% wipes out the device. There is absolutely no way to restore what is wiped. Please do this before sending in the device to cellitused.com. Thanks. DebiN
