Question
I bought a european model lg shine ke970 color pink off ebay.  I put my sim card into it and it says limited service.  No bars, no carrier shows up on it, nothin'.  I thought the phone may have been locked so I purchased an unlock code, and was told they couldn't help me.  Why can't I use this phone?

Answer
The reason that you can't use this phone is because it does not have the ability to work on the 850 US band. It will actually work in some areas where your carrier broadcasts on the 1900 band, but wherever they broadcast on 850, this device will not and cannot work. It's very important when you buy a phone from a place other than your carrier, that you purchase a quad band device, one that works on both the 850 and 1900 frequencies in the US. And if you need high speed, on those same bands on HSPA. This is a tri-band phone and will never work properly and fully in the US. I'm sorry that I didn't have better news for you and sorry that you spent your money on both the phone and an unlock code since it didn't need the unlock code, it was already unlocked. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
