Question
i recently upgraded to a new mobile same network so i transferred the sim, i gave the old one to a friend,he bought a sim for a different network. the phone wont recognise this card. it just displays my network not the name of the phone. any ideas many thanks
my old phone is a sagemvs3

Answer
Mobile phones are typically SIM locked to the carrier you bought the device from. When you got a new phone, your SIM card worked because you were using the same carrier for both phones. In the case of your friend, the phone you gave him was for your carrier, but he got a SIM card for a different carrier. Unless he gets someone to SIM unlock the phone, he won't be able to use the phone. I would recommend he either get a SIM card for your carrier or get a different phone for his carrier. Or he can pay someone to SIM unlock the phone for him. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
