Question
I have AT%26T  but I want to unlock a T-Mobile Phone and use my AT%26T service on it. However, I have had a friend do this also but some applications on his T-Mobile Phone were not available/did not work when he had it unlocked "example": The web browser and Internet applications. Is this something I may have a problem with?

Answer
You will definitely not be able to use MMS or Web Browsing when you put your AT&T SIM card into an unlocked T-Mobile phone. This situation happens 100% of the time. The reason is that when you use a phone that was not intended for your specific carrier, these settings are not in the phone because they are unique to each carrier. In order to use MMS and WAP, you have to program these settings into the phone. Additionally, any applications that are on the phone will not work because they are specific to T-Mobile. I personally wouldn't advise using an unlocked T-Mobile phone over an AT&T phone because the AT&T phones have been tested and set up for AT&T's network and the same for T-Mobile. If you really want to use a T-Mobile unlocked phone, then be prepared to have to code the settings for MMS and WAP for AT&T into the phone. It will depend upon the phone as to where and how you set these up, but the actual settings are the same for all AT&T phones:

The APN is wap.cingular
066.209.011.061 is the proxy and 9201 is the port number
There is no user name or password required

For MMS
http://mmsc.cingular.com
Same IP address and port number as above
No user name and password

I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
