Cellular Phones/Moto Q for prepaid data plan

Question
My kid got a Moto Q from Nextel/Sprint with plan, I would like to change it to prepaid plan for cost saving measure. Is Moto Q a CDMA device? so I can use prepaid data plan? Did I need to unlock it from NexTel/Sprint, or flash it? how do I do it? thanks.

Answer
You won't be able to use this device with Sprint prepaid. Sprint only allows prepaid phones on a prepaid plan. This device is a CDMA device and works on the Sprint (not Nextel) network. There's nothing to unlock or flash. It cannot be converted to work on prepaid, I'm afraid. Additionally, Sprint won't activate a SmartPhone without a data plan, so even if you could use it on prepaid, you would still be required to have a data plan. If you really want to save money and use prepaid, then I would suggest getting a new prepaid phone from Sprint. They are not very expensive. Save the Q if you aren't going to use it anymore or try to sell it to another Sprint user. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
