Cellular Phones/New Sims card with AT&T phone

Question
I have an LG touchscreen phone from AT&T that I just recently switched service over to Consumer Cellular.  CC sent a new Sims card, it works with my phone.  However, I am unable to send and receive text messages.  Is there some type of setting that needs to be changed in order for me to receive texts or should everything be set up through the new sims card automatically?  Thanks!

Answer
When you first port your number to a new carrier, it takes awhile before your text messages start to come to you. The problem likely is that when you are sending from your AT&T phone which you used with AT&T previously, the texts going out still think you are with AT&T and since you are not, they are not going out via CC. As far as incoming goes, have one of your friends erase you from their contacts. Then call them. Have them take that call and enter you back as a contact. Then have them send you a text from that new contact. I can pretty much guarantee you that will work. You should be able to then reply. If you can't, then contact CC and ask them to help you get your text working. It's now in their court to do this. If they can't figure it out, the issue would be your phone since it worked with both AT&T and CC, since CC is a reseller of AT&T, you should still be able to send and receive texts without issue, your SIM card really has nothing to do with this. Voice calls and texts are the same thing. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
