Cellular Phones/SIM Cards

Question
I just purchased a blackberry 8330 and in order to activate it with Sprint/Nextel they said I would have to purchase a SIM card. I already have an account with them but the phone I have at the present time is the hybrid renegade without a SIM card. What kind of card do I need to purchase and where can I get one from? Thanks!

Answer
All hybrid (iDEN and CDMA) phones have a SIM card. Any phone that works on the Nextel side of the network uses a SIM card. However, if you don't currently have an iDEN SIM card, you don't have to buy one, Sprint will give you one for no charge. If you don't have Nextel service, you will need to change your plan to include it. But in any event, you don't need to purchase the SIM, there is no charge. If you don't have Nextel service, the SIM is a GSM SIM used for when you travel abroad, however, I don't believe that the 8330 works outside of the US. Sprint can activate a CDMA BlackBerry without a SIM card, so I'm a bit confused about what they are telling you to do. Can you give me some more detail? Thanks. DebiN
