i have the exactly problem as the question before

and after seeing the answer, i added +852(the area code) in front of my friends' name, then the message inbox can show the sender's name.

However, when my friends call me, their numbers are without the area code. Then the phone only shows their number and cannot associate with the phonebook record. i dunno which one is calling..... the problem is so confusing....thank you very much :-(

What you will need to do is to change your settings so that calls are set up to show as being in the US. Once you do this, then the calls that come in should match up. The other thing that you can do is when your friend calls you, delete them from your contact list and re-add them from the call log. Then the next time that they call, it should match them up.
