Question
Hi I am eligible for an upgrade through verizon, and planning to get a brand new phone, however in the past I have had to return batteries and phones due to defects. How do I make sure that when dealing with my wireless carrier I do not get a returned or refurbished phone but a brand new phone, that I have paid for?

Answer
I 100% guarantee you that when you upgrade to a new phone with Verizon you will get a brand new, never been used phone and battery. Verizon does not sell returned or refurbished phones for new. They never have and never will and that I can 100% guarantee you. When people have phones under warranty and they return them under warranty, Verizon can and sometimes does replace them with refurbished devices, but they have the right to do that with warranty exchanges. They do not do this with new purchases ever. If you have had issues with batteries, it may have been that the battery had been sitting around for awhile and defects in phones is simply an issue with the manufacturer. You should feel totally comfortable buying a new phone from Verizon (or any carrier, for that matter - they all sell 100% brand new, never been used phones). If you select to purchase a refurbished phone, you can, but they have to advertise the phone as such. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
