Question
Hello, I am a rancher, and am very rough on my cell phone. I am looking at various 'tough phones', and am considering the old sonim xp1 or xp3.  If I purchase an 'unlocked' one, would it be able to work on our US Cellular carrier? Here in this part of Nebraska, us cellular is my best choice for coverage.  Thanks!

Answer
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use this phone with US Cellular. This phones works on the GSM bands and US Cellular uses CDMA technology. They are not compatible. It will work with T-Mobile or AT&T. Since coverage is key because without it it doesn't matter about the phone, I wouldn't recommend switching carriers. You will need to get a phone from US Cellular, because if you tried flashing a Verizon or Sprint phone to them, it would likely cause issues, but that would be your only option. I would recommend using the best rugged phone that US Cellular offers or better yet, buying an Otterbox case for your phone. Those are what you really need for ruggedized. I hope this helps. Thanks.
