Cellular Phones/sprint vs verizon

Question
they are both cdma. so is there a difference in data and
voice. if there is why is that the case if they use the same
technology. shouldnt the only difference between them be their
phones and plans?

Answer
Sprint owns a network and Verizon owns a network. They use the same technology, but not the same network. They are two completely separate companies. Sprint determines what CDMA phones they are going to sell and where they will build their network based on the spectrum that they own. Verizon does the same. The diffence between them is that Verizon owns a many times larger network than Sprint and is a completely different company and is run differently. The way that the company runs their business and network makes a huge difference. There are places where Verizon roams on Sprint's network and other places where Sprint roams on Verizon's network (and both roam on other carrier's networks also); however, as I mentioned, these are two completely different companies and your experience with one will be totally different than with another. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
