Cellular Phones - Finding Owner of Cell Phone

Expert: DebiN - 7/7/2009

Question
Someone left their phone in our law office. The battery is dead. I have the SIM number and the IMEI number from the phone. Is there a way I can locate the contact information for the person who owns this phone?

Answer
You won't be able to, but the carrier can. Contact the carrier and tell them that you found this phone and ask them if there is a way that they can get it to the owner. Better yet, take it to one of their stores and ask them for a charger and charge the phone. Then you can see numbers in the phone and perhaps contact someone who knows the owner, or call your home with the phone and see what name shows up on the caller ID if caller ID for cellphones is available in your area. Get the phone charged and I'm sure that will solve the problem, otherwise contact the carrier. I hope this helps and it is very nice of you to try to find the owner. If the phone is a Motorola, any mini USB charger (like for a BlackBerry) will charge it. What type of phone is it? Thanks. DebiN
