Cellular Phones/Receiving calls from Canada

Question
I use alltel, will receiving calls from Canada show up on my bill in any way?

Answer
When you have a cell phone (from any carrier), it makes no difference who calls you. People can call you from Canada, Europe, anywhere in the world and as long as when you answer your phone, you are in your home territory (the US), you will not be charged for anything other than your standard rate of service (i.e., as part of your plan minutes). If you are out of the US and have international roaming enabled, then all calls that you make or receive (including voice mail) are billed at international roaming rates because you are not in your "home territory" (the US). So just remember that it only matters where you are and who you call, not where someone else is or where they are calling from. If you dial an international number from your phone, it is international long distance, so if you call someone in Canada, that is long distance and will show up on your bill with an international long distance charge.

If you have detailed billing, ALL calls show up on your bill. The calls to you typically show up as "Incoming" and the number that called you doesn't display. Only the outgoing calls on detailed billing show up with the number you dialed. Calls made to you just show as Incoming regardless of where they come from. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
