Cellular Phones/gsm sim card in iden phone

Question
Hello Debi,
I don't mean this question to be redundant, but here goes. I have a cellular line with ATT and an older Nokia phone model 6030. I also have another phone not being used currently, a Motorola i530. Both use the same sim card, at least they look the same to me. When I place the sim from the Nokia into the Motorola, the phone requests a code to unlock it. I have requested an unlock code for the Motorola phone so I can use it instead of my Nokia. Is this going to be possible or did I just blow 5 bucks? I'll await your reply and thanks very much.

Answer
SIM cards are always the same size - there is only one size SIM card, however your Nextel SIM works on the iDEN network and your AT&T SIM card works on the GSM network. You can't use a GSM phone with an iDEN SIM or vice versa. They are not compatible and there is no way around this, period. When you put the SIMS into the other phones, they recognize that there is a SIM present, but even if unlocked, they won't work. Wrong radio antenna in the phones. The Nextel phone has an iDEN radio, the AT&T has GSM. Not compatible at all. Do not even bother unlocking anything because it won't help. I hope this helps, though. Thanks. DebiN
