Cellular Phones/metro phone

Question
Hello, I'm trying to switch over an 2007 model Nokia 6235i that we had around the house from a previous metro pcs account, to use it with our current tmobile sim card. We have a family plan and one of the kids switched off to get an iphone. We like this Nokia and wanted to be able to set it up with our open phone line/sim card for my mother. It has a sim slot, but when I try calling out from it, it says i'm roaming. Tmobile said I need to get an unlock code for it, but I haven't found any of these websites that have the same model on metro with an unlock code. Is there any advice you can offer, aside from scrapping the phone we like?

Answer
MetroPCS uses CDMA technology, T-Mobile is GSM. These are not compatible. So that means that you cannot use a T-Mobile phone on the MetroPCS network. Don't bother trying to get the T-Mobile phone unlocked, because it will not ever work with MetroPCS. I would strongly recommend getting a phone from MetroPCS or staying with T-Mobile service and using your current T-Mobile phone. I hope this helps and I'm sorry that the T-Mobile person didn't give you the proper advice. Thanks. DebiN
