Question i recently purchased a LG kf-750 "secret" cell phone. while the phone is not sold in the US. i bought mine from buy.com and it is an "unlocked cell phone". My problem is when i put in my AT&T sim card from my old Sony w580i the contacts and everything move over to the new phone however the LG does not find the AT&T network. i have tried doing a master reset hoping it would find the network. i have even taken my phone in to AT&T and was given a new sim card to use. nothing has worked. i am open to all suggestions
Answer The reason that this phone does not work on the AT&T network is because it is only a tri-band device. It works only on the 1900 band in the US and in order for it to work properly on AT&T's network, it needs to work on both the 850 and 1900 bands. The SIM card did not need to be changed and a reset has nothing to do with it. Someone at AT&T should have told you that this device wouldn't work with AT&T (or any carrier in the US actually). In order for a phone to work properly on the US carrier's GSM networks, it needs to work on both the 850 and 1900 bands and if HSDPA, needs to work on these bands for highspeed also (not 2100 or 900 or 1800). I strongly recommend that you return the phone, if possible and get your money back. If you decide to buy another phone on line, please look up it's specifications and be sure that it works on both 850 and 1900 bands. I hope this helps. Thanks. Debin
