Cellular Phones - want to use a sim card phone on us cellular service

Expert: DebiN - 7/11/2009

Question
US Cellular does not have any phones that i like and they say that they cannot activate sim card phones on their network.  Are they trying to blow smoke at me to buy one of their phones or is this really true?  If they can activate sim card phones how can I get them to do it for me?  What do I say/

Answer
US Cellular has a CDMA network. CDMA technology does not use SIM card. SIM Cards are used only with GSM technology. They are telling you the 100% truth. If you are going to stay with US Cellular as your carrier, you need to get your phone directly from them. You cannot buy a GSM phone and have them activate it. Won't work and can't work. It's apples to oranges. Either change carriers or pick a phone from them that you like. Those are your only choices, honestly. I hope this helps. Thanks. Debin
