Cellular Phones/Motorola i930

Question
Hi, my problem is that my phone has a camera and flash, but no way to access/use it. My model is an i930, but the operating software is from the Motorola i920, same phone, but i920 does not have the camera. I've gone into the phone system folders and found unit info and it says phone model i920 B. I think something got screwed up somewhere. I bought the phone in brand new condition, but not by a retailer, at the auction. Is there anyway I can have this correct easily? Thanks!

Answer
You are not going to be able to make this work because the phone is flashed for the non-camera model. This is the issue that occurs when phones are flashed to work on other networks. If the carrier doesn't sell the exact model and someone flashes the phone to that carrier, they have to flash it to the closest model and in your case, it was the i920 which did not have a camera. There is no way to change this because even though your phone has a camera, it will never be able to use it because of the firmware (it's not really the operating system, it's the firmware). Unfortunately, a cell phone is not like a computer, where you can simply update the operating system. To change the firmware would require the manufacturer or the carrier and I have a feeling that the phone you have is not sold by your carrier, plus you didn't buy the phone from your carrier, so they wouldn't be able to do this for you. In the systems folder it is set up to be an i920B because of what I indicated above. I'm afraid you are going to have to either get a different phone or live with it not having a camera. I highly recommend that you consider buying a phone that is branded with your carrier's name so that you know that it was intended for your carrier and has all the features and functions of that phone. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
