Question
Regarding your earlier answer for net 10 and the EMEI pairing, if I buy an unlocked quad band phone,m can I then just change the registration of the EMEI on-lie at net10 so that I may receive calls?  The problem I am trying to address is this:  My 17 yrear old daughter is on Net10 (great for our family budget!) but she hates the simple flip phone.  I'd like to upgrade her hardware with an mp3 capable phone like a Sony Ericsson or Nokia but I want to keep the cheap Net10 plan... Your suggestions most appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
I don't believe that Net10 will allow you to do this, but you can always ask them. I would recommend contacting them and telling them that you need to buy a new phone and if you did this, would they put that IMEI into the system so that you can get the minutes, etc. on her phone. If they say no, they have the right to do this, but it's worth a try. Just remember that if you use any phone that didn't come from them, the MMS and WAP capabilities will not work and you will not be able to download music anyway since the phone has to be supported by the carrier in order for there to be drivers for it. I strongly recommend that you either change carriers to one that has the phone model you are looking for or have your daughter understand that her phone really can't be used as a music player. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
