Cellular Phones/Nokia 3230-white screen death

Question
hi, I have the very first version of Nokia 3230 that was released years ago. Since last year, its been off. Reason being the screen dissolves into white screen, I guess its known as the white screen of death in cellphones terminology. I am sentimentally attached to this phone. Is there any way I can get it back to normal. Is there a site which offers free Nokia firmware to rectify the error? I have been to Nokia centre and they are charging a bomb. Please help.

Answer
Unfortunately, firmware will not correct your problem. The device has a hardware issue, i.e., the screen display. If you want to try to have this repaired, take the phone to a authorized repair location for Nokia phones, which is sounds like you already did and they told you that they would charge you more than you want to pay. Unfortunately, that is your only choice. There is no home repair that will work for you, I'm afraid. So either pay the money to repair it or I would really recommend just getting a new phone. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
