Cellular Phones/Transferring from virgin mobile to AT & T

Question
My daughter had a virgin mobile phone and we just switched her over to AT & T.  She can make calls out on her phone, but her test messages are still going to her other phone.  It has been 24 hours since we got the phone.  Virgin Mobile said it may take up to two days.  Is this true?  They said they cannot deactivate her virgin mobile phone until the port is all the way over.  What I don't understand is why she can call people, but not text or receive calls.

Please help!

Answer
It is definitely true. It can take a couple of days for the port to go through fully. When a port is in process, you basically have partial service on both sides and that is what you are experiencing. What you will need to do to complete the port once it is fully done is to turn off both phones and then only turn back on the AT&T phone. At that point, the new phone will access the AT&T network and should work fully functional. I hope this helps. Thanks. debiN
