Question
I have a Tmobile G1.And I'm about to put in a new SD card.I want all my contacts, music, apps and pics and everything else to still be on my phone when I put this new SD card in.How or what do I need to do to be sure everything is there. Basically when I put my new card in,I want my phone and everything I have on it to still be there and be the same.Is there maybe a app I can download to back up everything on,and then restore it once I put the new card in.Is this even necessary ? Please help.

Answer
A micro SD card is used to store music and pictures, if you want to store them there. You cannot store ringtones, contacts or applications on an SD card. These have to be stored on your phone. When you put the SD card into your phone, nothing will be on it. If you want to store music and pictures on it, you will have that choice. However, I get the feeling that perhaps you might be talking about a new SIM card? If that is the case, your SIM card is your identity, your phone number, rate plan, etc. If it's a SIM card you are putting in (not sure why you would get a new one), you still don't have to worry because everything is stored on your phone. If it is an SD card that you are installing, whatever is on that SD card cannot be copied to your phone and then onto the new SD card from your phone. There isn't enough storage on the phone to handle what is on the SD card. You would need to copy the contents of the SD card to your computer and then back to the new SD card if you want to have what is on the old SD card onto the new one. You should be able to use the same application that you use to synchronize your contacts, addresses, etc. with the G1 and your computer to do this. You have to keep the card in the phone when you do this. And if you don't need what's on the card on your new card, then it is not necessary. Remember, only the music and pictures you have specifically saved to the old card is what is on it, not your contacts, apps or other things that you haven't saved to it. I hope this helps. Thanks.
