Cellular Phones/Blackberry problem

Question
Hi, I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 and my carrier is Sprint.  I have had this phone for about 6 months 2 nights ago I notice that my keypad locked up.  The track wheel worked just fine.  I took the battery out it did the same thing.  I took the battery out again for about a half an hour.  It worked just fine but as soon as the screen saver went black the screen wouldn't come back up. I left the battery out over night.  It seemed to work till I got a call.  Then the keys locked up again.  Right now all functions work great unless I get a call.  When that happens I have to take battery out and call them back.  My phone has only normal wear to it.  it's never gotten wet, it hasn't had any major drop or abused.
When this all started it was charging.  I was using a igo charger but have never had any problems with it before.  I do have insurance on the phone but unsure how much it will cost me for them to fix it.  Do you know if this is a common problem with blackberries or what could of caused this problem?

Answer
Here's the good news - your phone is under the manufacturer's warranty from Sprint for 12 months, so you don't have to use your insurance to get a new device. Only after the 12 months, or if the phone is damaged or lost do you need the insurance. What is happening with the device is definitely something that would cause you to exchange it under warranty. It is likey that the firmware or device is faulty, but it doesn't matter, because all you have to do is to contact Sprint, tell them that the keypad keeps locking up, tell them what you have done to try to fix it (i.e., taking out the battery etc.) and I can guarantee you that they will replace it under warranty. It won't cost you a penny. It isn't really common to have issues, but it does happen, so don't worry. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
