Cellular Phones/Dual Profile SIM card

Question
Hello I live in a country where there is only one cell phone company and there is still no competition. There is a company called raditel which is to say Nextel. However, the main cell phone company does not want to let "Nextel" use there network to access regular telephone numbers. This means that I have to carry 2 phones!! I read that a company in Singapore uses Dual Profile SIM card that supports both GSM and IDEN in one SIM card. Do you know where or who can program a SIM so that I can have both services on one SIM card? I also read that the motorola I930 does support both GSM and IDEN, but i need to program a sim that will have both my GSM and IDEN information on it. I understand that i will have to pay a separate bill to have both companies give me service but i would not have to carry 2 phones!! HELP

Answer
I have never heard of a cell phone provider who can program their SIM cards to work on both a GSM and iDEN network. There are cell phones that have dual radios that work on both a GSM and iDEN network and there are cell phones that allow dual SIMs. In the US, you cannot use a dual SIM phone for two different carriers, regardless of whether it has the capability, however, if you can use a phone in Singapore that is dual SIM, then you just need to get that phone and put in an iDEN SIM from your iDEN provider and a GSM SIM from another provider who offers GSM service. So, basically, it's the phone that is dual radio, not the SIM card, I believe. I hope this helps. thanks. DebiN
