Cellular Phones/FCC Laws

Question
What is the FCC law that says I have to be the only person on my family talk account to change phone numbers, also if this is true do I have to be there in person or can I do this online or over the phone.

Answer
It's not an FCC law, it's the cell phone provider's contract that was signed by the account holder that states that he/she is the person who is responsible for the account and it was his/her social security number and credit that was used to start up the account. Unless the account holder legally transfers the account to someone else and that person passes a credit check by your carrier, then no one else can make changes to the account without the account holder's permission. You absolutely positively do not have to do this in person. You can make certain changes on line. But if the on-line service does not permit certain types of changes (which is determined by the carrier), then those changes have to be done via phone or in person, but I can 100% guarantee you that there is no change that has to be done in person. It may not be able to be done on-line, but it can be done via phone. No carrier requires anything to be done in person, no matter what. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
