Question
Hello.

I recently purchased a palm treo 680 for cingular, and I also bought a brand new cingular 3g SIM card for the device. Every time I turn the phone on, it says "searching for service" and then says "no service, SOS only". I've tried Hard reset and soft resest dozens of times, and even called cinular six time's in the time period of twenty four hours. Please help me ASAP! = ] thanks in advanced!!

Answer
If you got a new SIM card, did you have AT&T activate the SIM card for you? If they didn't activate it (i.e., your old SIM should no longer work), then that would be what the issue is. If you know that the SIM card works, i.e., you can put it into another phone and it is works, then theproblem is with the Palm Treo. It may be that the radio antenna is damaged or it is a defective device. A reset won't do any good, as you have seen. No service means typically that the SIM card is not working (i.e., not activated) or the radio antenna is broken. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
