Cellular Phones/Telus Blackberry Curve Volume Problem

Question
QUESTION: I have a brand new Telus Blackberry Curve and the ringer volume isn't working. Whenever I receive a call or text it is as though the volume is on mute. One minute it was working, now it's not. I've tried setting the ringer to loud as oppose to normal, best result was two vibrations. Tried setting it to escalating and that did not work at all. When I dial phone numbers there is still a sound and the volume works fine when talking to a caller or on speakerphone. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

ANSWER: Are you positive that the profile you are using is set to ring and not just vibrate? Go into Profiles and see if the "Normal" profile is the one that is defaulted. If it isn't, then choose this profile, then scroll down and go into Advanced, make sure that Normal is set to Active, then click on the Normal profile, then go to Phone, then make sure that Out of Holster is set to Tone, then choose a ringtone under Ring Tone, then make sure that volume is set to High, then make sure that in Holster is also set to Tone and make sure that there is ringtone there also. Let me know if this works for you. Thanks. DebiN

QUESTION: Hi Debi, the volume was on the right settings. I went back to the store and they took the battery out and put it back in. It works fine now.

Answer
I'm so glad that you got this straightened out. I should have mentioned for you to do this. Believe it or not, the easiest and fastest way to troubleshoot a BlackBerry is simply to reset it by removing the battery and then putting it back in. I had not heard of issues with volume being rectified that way, but it makes complete sense. I typically have to remove my battery on my BlackBerry every month or so to solve some type of issue. As the firmware and features get more complex, BlackBerrys seem to require more resets, unfortunately. Thanks for updating me. Take care. Debin
