Cellular Phones/access data network, cell one contract

Question
QUESTION: Hi DebiN,
I had accidentally destroyed my cell phone. My carrier is/was CellOne. I am trying to replace the phone with one that will allow me to use up/continue with the CellOne plan because AT%26T's closest plan is $40 per month more and not as good. All I get from AT%26T retail folk is pressure to convert  to a new AT%26T contract. I bought an unlocked Razr online. Have been able to place and rec' calls but cannot access the data network or send picture messages. Am told that the Razr, although unlocked, is configured for Cingular and can not be configured to access my CellOne data packages. Any suggestions? Is there a number I should be calling to get reliable information? Have since bought a Motto give away phone branded by AT%26T but won't go into that story just yet. Thank you for any help you may offer.
Take care,
Bill

ANSWER: If you can get a hold of the CellOne MMS and WAP settings (perhaps from a friend who still has CellOne service), then you can program these into the device. I don't personally have the CellOne settings otherwise, I would give these to you. Since AT&T bought CellOne, the service should be the same if not better and the lowest cost plan is $39.99. What are you paying today? Thanks. DebiN

QUESTION: Thanks Debi,
Unfortunately I don't know anyone who still has CellOne. I would still have it if it were available here. Since AT%26T purchased CellOne it would seem they would have access to the WAP and MMS settings. To answer your question above, I am spending about $87.00 per month. AT%26Ts most comparable plan is about $130.00 per month.
Thanks again,
Bill

Answer
You can try calling AT&T Customer Care and letting them know that you are a CellOne user and still have a CellOne SIM card and that your WAP and MMS settings have somehow vanished and ask them if they have the settings. In all honesty, most customer care reps at AT&T probably won't have the settings because these aren't required for their jobs, however, you may get lucky. Here is a link to a web page that might be of help to you. It's for CellOne North. Let me know if these don't work and I can see if I can find any others:  http://www.cellone.in/dsn.htm. There is also a South Zone at: www.ap.bsnl.co.in/mmsgprs/wap.asp

Thanks. DebiN
