Question
Hi Debbie
I currently have an At&T plan but my phone is so old the battery does not stay charged and they dont make them anymore.  I was laid off and cannot afford a new phone and do not want to sign up for another 2 yr plan.  My question is. I was given an old motorola phone i think its some type of motophone i cant tell the model.  Do i have to get the phone unlocked?    If i put my current AT&T SIM card in it will AT&T make me sign up for a 2 yr plan or change my plan somehow?.

Answer
If the phone you want to use is branded AT&T or Cingular, it will work with your SIM and AT&T will not make you sign a new agreement to use it. It will work as soon as you put the SIM into the phone. If the phone is branded by T-Mobile, then it would need to be SIM unlocked. If it is branded Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular or other carrier, it won't work. What carrier's name is branded on the phone?
