Answer
In order to use the newer devices, you need a SIM card that has enough memory and is capable of working in the device. If you put your current SIM card into the new 8530i, and it works, then there is no issue. But if it doesn't, it is because it needs that newer SIM. Nextel doesn't charge for a SIM card and you shouldn't have to sign a new agreement or change service in order to get a new SIM card. However, if have a company phone and wnat to use a BlackBerry, you need to understand that in order to really use the BlackBerry, you will need to have a BlackBerry data plan added. Since I am assuming that your company won't pay for that, then it is probably not the best idea to try this right now. The newer SIM card will work in the old phone without issue, but the old SIM card likely will not work fully in the newer device. If you can convince your company to let Nextel update your SIM, you may be able to do what you are wanting to do, but like I mentioned earlier, keep in mind that all data features will not work on the BlackBerry no matter what you do unless you get a BlackBerry data plan added to your account by Nextel. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
