I was told t-mobile and alltel are interchangeable. Meaning you can use a t-mobile sim card in an alltel phone and vice vera. is this true?
Not true. The vast majority of Alltel is CDMA and was purchased by Verizon. There is a small section of Alltel that was GSM and in those areas, if an Alltel SIM was being used, it could be used in an unlocked T-Mobile phone, but there is no part of Alltel that is unlocked, i.e., T-Mobile SIMs are not compatible with Alltel GSM phones. I think whoever may have written this somewhere that you read was confused or mistaken. Your T-Mobile SIM will only work in a T-Mobile phone or unlocked GSM phone. The vast majority of Alltel phones are CDMA. In otherwords, do not buy an Alltel branded phone. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
