Question
I have a iphone 3G factory unlocked (european version)which I was using with T-mobile.  I recently switched to Sprint and use an EVO 4G.  I gave my iphone 3G to my daughter.  I recently ended my contract with T-mobile and brought my wife and two daughters over  to Sprint on a family plan.  My daughter who was using the Iphone 3G wanted to keep it but I told her that Sprint does not use sim cards so she could not use it with Sprint.  So she chose a Blackberry bold 9650 from Sprint.  Well we opened the battery cover and noticed that it contained a Sprint sim card.  Can I insert the sim card into the Iphone 3G and use it on the Sprint network?

Answer
Sprint works on a CDMA network and the only reason that there is a SIM card in her BlackBerry BOLD is because this device can also work outside of the US on the GSM network abroad. That SIM card won't work in the US at all, but if you take the device abroad and have an international plan, it will work there. All Sprint and Verizon "WorldPhones" have SIM cards in them for use outside of the US, but they do not work on the US GSM bands at all. So, unfortunately, your daughter will not be able to use the Sprint SIM in her iPhone. The only way to use the iPhone in the US is on the AT&T or T-Mobile networks. Hope this helps.
