Cellular Phones/Free Incoming Call Cell Plans

Question
My mother-in-law just moved into an Assisted Living facility and has macular degeneration. She will be making very few calls but she will be receiving calls on a regular basis. What are the best plans for her?

Answer
The cost of free incoming works out to be about the same as a standard plan, so even though she will only be receiving calls, it doesn't necessarily make sense to get her something that is specifically free incoming. Based upon where she lives, you should get her a pay as you go plan with the carrier who has the best reception where she will be living. If she receives one or two calls a day for a couple of minutes each, putting $100.00 at a time on her card would be best and then the minutes wouldn't expire for a year. If you have some more questions about this, please let me know or if pay as you go isn't what you are looking for, I can give you other ideas. Thanks. DebiN
