Cellular Phones/Ringtone Options

Question
DebiN,

Might be an odd question but here goes. I recently switched phones to a BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and I'd like to apply ring tones to multiple areas. I'd like a separate one for SMS Text Messages and then a different one for Voice Mail. I can't seem to be able to do this. It seems like I can only apply one for both. I'd also like to be able to use different ring tones in the calendar. I can only see how to use one in the calendar. On my Motorola W490 I was able to have ring tones for any appointment I added to the calendar...it was unlimited. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer
If you click on the Profile and then scroll down to Advanced and then go into your Normal (which should be the default profile), you will see that all of the items listed allow you to change the settings for those areas. Click on Calendar and you can use a ringtone for the Calendar (make sure that you choose something other than Vibrate and Mute and do this for both in an out of the holster), same with SMS, etc. Voice Mail doesn't have an option that can be changed, the only items that can be changed are those that appear in this list. MMS can be different than SMS, etc. So you can definitely have a different tone for calendar than for SMS, for example. Just be sure to save your changes and to use the Normal profile. Let me know if this helps. Thansk. DebiN
