Question
I just bought a Blackberry 8800 that's been unlocked (I think. It recognizes my SIM card and phone #, but it won't let me send or receive calls. What can I do to fix this? Yesterday it let me go to google maps and it used my prepaid data package dollars, but I could not get on the browser either... How would I set this up, also??? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Answer
If this device is unlocked, it will recognize your SIM card, i.e., it will let you send and receive calls. You can't use a prepaid AT&T SIM card in a post-paid BlackBerry, unfortunately. I also wouldn't attempt to use this device any further because even if you get it unlocked, you will never be able to use the browser because it requires a BlackBerry data plan in order to use a BlackBerry for any type of data. The google maps was likely just an application that was outside of the BlackBerry itself and because you have AT&T, it let you go there, but unless this device was SIM unlocked, even though it is AT&T and you have AT&T - prepaid is different than post paid. You can use a post paid SIM in a prepaid phone, but not vice versa. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
