Question
Hi  a friend gave me this number and said that you can call it and enter a phone number to see if it was tapped    when you call the number a computer answers and says welcome to STAR AUTOMATIC LOOKUP SYSTEM  do you know anything about this or the company and is this possible

Answer
I've never heard of this and have a very bad feeling that it is a trap and strongly recommend that you don't do it. It likely is actually a way to get your phone number tapped (though it's unlikely that it will really be tapped, but it's likely a scam so that the scammers can send you text messages and other communications via your number in the hopes that you will respond and then get charged a fee, etc.). From everything that I know, there is no such thing as Star Automatic Lookup, so I am hoping that you haven't done it. And please know that it is very very unlikely that your phone is tapped and is really not possible without your knowledge or participation. Why do you think it is? Thanks. DebiN
