Cellular Phones/Using GoPhone, but wanting to purchase new Blackberry

Question
Hi,
I am currently using the AT&T GoPhone pay as you go $1 plan.
I would like to purchase a new Blackberry Bold 9700.  I understand that I could use my prepaid SIM with a Blackberry, but I would only be able to call and text - no data services that require BIS.  If I were to get a Blackberry, I would like to take full advantage of all it has to offer; therefore, I would like to purchase a new Blackberry phone with a post-paid plan, so that I can get the Blackberry data package with it.  Amazon is offering the Bold 9700 at $0.01 with a two-year rate plan.  I would like to purchase the Bold 9700 with this offer, but how would I transfer my number to the new phone?  Please advise.  Thanks.

Answer
So, if you purchase via Amazon, you may want to check with them to see if you can upgrade your current service from prepaid to post paid, however, I have a feeling that they will not be able to do this. Since your service currently is with AT&T and prepaid, Amazon very likely can only sell new service or maybe an upgrade, but to change a plan from prepaid to post paid would require AT&T to be involved. You may want to consider just purchasing the device from AT&T or getting a new number (which I'm sure you don't want to do), but that is likely your only option. I would recommend contacting Amazon to be sure. Thanks. DebiN
