Cellular Phones/Transfer pictures from phone to PC

Question
I just (4/1/2010) got a new LG Accolade (VX5600) phone from Verizon. It came with a USB cable but the instructions only describe how to use it to charge the phone's battery. They say nothing about using the USB cable to transfer files and such. The phone also has bluetooth capability. But the manual only explains how to use bluetooth to connect to headphones and such, not computers. I want to transfer pictures directly to my PC but the owners manual only describes how to do this using email. Is there a way to transfer pictures directly to my PC without use of email? Thanks!

Answer
You can use the USB cable to transfer pictures from your new phone to your computer, however, you will first need to purchase software for the computer that has drivers to support your phone. It's similar to when you get a new printer and you need the printer software and drivers so that the computer can recognize the printer (which is also referred to as a peripheral device). With Verizon, you will need to purchase the software directly from them, as they don't support third party software. You should be able to find the software on their web site or by going into a Verizon store or calling customer service. You will then just install the software onto your PC, plug in your phone and follow the instructions to use the software. You can then transfer your pictures onto your PC and vice versa. You can't use bluetooth to do this because the file size and type of file cannot be transferred via bluetooth. So the reason that the manual doesn't discuss computer transfer is because it is not a standard feature of the phone. But once you get the software, there will be complete instructions. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
