Question
Hello Debin,
I received an incoming call with caller identity as "Unknown".I got some incoming call list from my service provider but i didnt find any anonymous number or IP regarding the "unknown call".Now pls confirm me that whether the Service provider should hold the Information about the call and whether the same will be given to the  end customer when the end user ask for the lists.
My Service Provider- AIRTEL(INDIA).

Answer
When a call comes in as "Unknown", it means that the caller ID information was not passed through the network. Typically, it is because the caller's phone equipment (like in an office) or phone company does not have the ability to pass the caller ID. The information is not available anywhere because if the identity is unknown, it is truly unknown. A private call is one that is blocked (also sometimes shown as anonymous), but unknown is never available. On the other hand, the person who called you will see the number they dialed when they called you because they placed a call to you. Had you called them and knew their number, you would see their number. But since you don't know who called you, you can't figure that one out, I'm sorry to say. So, know that your service provider does not have the caller information just as you don't have it. I hope this helps. Thanks. DebiN
